Mangal Pandey was a soldier of the 34th Native Infantry of East India Company and became the historical hero by attacking his officer and initiating the first war of independence, the revolt of 1857.The cause behind this brave action was the imposition of compulsory use of the particular type of cartridge by the British officials to all army soldiers. The new cartridge was actually made of animal fats and use of such thing was against the Islamic and Hindu religion of the army ::
